The bounty of the Earth.
The intrusion of human interference.
The naïve mistake of doing something small that compounds, ending in catastrophe,
The earth is warning us if we are open to its signs.
The Earth can provide everything,
We must let it take the lead.

There are many signs that evolution has created to alarm or inform. These could be food, water, health, weather. But also sickness, death and disease.
Humans have been naïve in their actions and continue to be in many ways.
This project was to create a narrative from items found on a walk.
Constraints/Conditions:
1) Take 5 pictures, all in the same colour range
2) Collect 5 contrasting objects on the walk
3) Present it in a way that explains a story using Juxtaposition.
4) Arrange purposefully
Juxtaposition= a purposeful contrast.
~
The items collected may be all-natural, but they have all contrasting elements. Live (rape seed), Dead (bark), food (Sloe), future growth (teasel), Encroachment (bramble). However, with the linking narrative, they all create a story together.
I have arranged it in the shape of the largest continent on the earth to symbolise the earth; you could take this further and explain that this continent is rapidly changing due to climate change (1), “The burden of air pollution on African livelihoods and population health is among the highest in the world” (2) and economy growth in parts are huge, with few political commitments to positive environmental change (3).
I chose to write a poem, as my narrative because they are evocative. Rather than someone telling you what it is, with a poem, the mind is more relaxed to absorb, less offended by an opposing view, and more memorable. In my opinion, anyway.

On reflection, I laid this out flat on a table. How better could I have presented this. Could I have covered a sphere with the images protruding in? Could I have served the bounty on a plate?
Could I have melted it all together, creating an infinite bond?

Presentation of a project is just if not more important than the project itself. It’s about selling what you have created to get the viewer/user to feel and understand what you are trying to portray.
