This blog is an insight into my design process and interests.

Allowing exploration of anything that may aid my journey into becoming a landscape architect.

Waiting for Tea

I challenged myself while waiting for a drink order; this was under 5 minutes.

It was a rushed sketch; in my haste, I didn’t take a picture to compare and reflect on; this was a life-like image.

I drew a quick outline and then shaded in with mostly straight lines. The Tarrow plant has beautiful “rolling-hill” shapes over its leaves, and I wanted to capture along side the angles to which the leaves are facing.

This made drawing exciting, not a laborious chore (if ever it could be). How would I improve it? Practising the technique, improving drawing what I see, not what I think.

This will transfer to professional practice, onsite and sketching for clients. The ability to sketch accurately, well and fast is an invaluable skill to have.

So, maybe this could be an excuse to treat myself more to a fancy hot drink or 2… ready… steady…sketch.
