When looking at abstract art, the products tend to be far removed from the original subject, creating a departure from reality. Mainly using shapes, different forms and lines in many colours. The term abstract alludes to something vague, challenging, and tough to understand. However, these characteristics may not have to apply to abstract art.

Conversely, an abstract artist may aim to create something stunning
lovely that will transport us away from the mundane reality of daily life. Put differently, their passion for art could stem from a pure and basic appreciation of it.

Numerous exhibitions demonstrate that abstraction, in all its manifestations, has not been a difficult-to-describe movement that stands apart from the mainstream but instead has created some of the most iconic, influential and beloved works of art history.

Abstract Landscape Paintings Capture Energetic Cityscapes (mymodernmet.com)This painting above uses abstraction alongside symmetry and asymmetry. There is a reflection in the vertical plane (although not an identical copy), yet horizontally, there is an asymmetrical balance. For me, if this was a try symmetrical mirrored reflection, it would contain less drama; there is a movement with what seems to be a road leading to some buildings, and it is inviting.

Depictions in sculpture take similar concepts. They experiment with novel approaches to representation by emphasising geometric shapes and minimising the distinguishing features of their subjects.

How is abstraction used in Landscape architecture?

Abstracting Morphology | 2017 ASLA Professional Awards
This garden landscape by HOLLANDERdesign takes its concept from the unique sheer cliffs and geological of the surrounding landscape. The abstract shapes include ones created from the glacier ice flows, the sharp escarpments created from their erosive path.
In the view in the right picture, one can really see the primitive forms. I have taken these shapes and created a simplistic abstract representation of this shot.
I have also taken this imaged in photoshop, pixelating it; this distorts the image in some respects but still keeping the abstract essence of the image.
