This blog is an insight into my design process and interests.

Allowing exploration of anything that may aid my journey into becoming a landscape architect.

Ossacip Garden

We were tasked a quick garden design and bucket fill task. with the constraints:
-Keep Hedge
-Keep Existing Trees
-Add a Pavilion (3×4)
-Keep Entrances/Exits
– Add a Pond

Now there was a key indicator with how to draw it, but the interpretation may have been miss understood. this was draw “in a style”. Now I took this as, “draw in the style off”, so I picked Picasso, with his surreal yet geometric shapes. I also I used a similar colour pallet.

In heinseit I may have missed the ticket here, but nevertheless, this was an interesting exercise. I got to research an influential artist and apply his techniques to another art.

The blue is, as stereotypically defined, the pond, just off centre to play with the eyes directional pull. In the centre will be a feature of sorts, initially white, but I do like the idea of black- influenced by the strong use of black in Picassos painting.

The Yellow is the flooring, the lighter being a higher level, so it will step and slop.

I have attempted to use the fx tool in one of these using the bevel and the contours

With “garden design” I do tend to have the stereotypical outside boarders inside boring. I need to experiment in bringing forms into the middle more to disrupt the flow/passage and increase interest of the whole design.

My confidence and speed is coming on bounds with photoshop. I am by no means skilled, but I am quite comfortable with it now and can quite quickly turn something around I am happy with. Now I need to increase the complexity of tools and effects to learn to aid in my rendering ability.
