Please follow the link above to see my whole sketchbook of this term. It will open a onedrive file you can flick through.

I feel that I have kept a fair input to my sketchbook this term. I have sketched regularly and have explored different techniques, ideas and ideals. I am getting more confident with my sketching. However, I have not built a good habit of sketching daily or at least 5 days a week.

What I have noticed from reading, studying and absorbing some advice is that I need to learn my hand; to draw effortlessly so my ideas are transferred without any resistance. If, when I draw, I am wondering “how will my hand achieve this” it may filter/dilute down the information and effect the end result or I will struggle to get down what I have in my brain.

so… More practice makes more progress.

I have enjoyed exploring and venturing away from my comfort zone – but if I really analyse this … have I actually done this or have I just used slightly different ways of the same thing to make the illusion I have?

Have I found my style? I believe I have a style already, but that’s not to say it is the best choice for me. Do I need to experiment more into ways that really express me and my hand?

Next term I will attempt to sketch 5 days a week. I don’t this this is too optimistic, I think its a challenge, but not unobtainable. I will have to build it into my normal day – say with breakfast or lunch, so it becomes apart of my daily routine. It will then become more natural so I will have the ability to express my ideas more freely.

Lets set a reminder for June to come back to this post and see… did I really do this?? That’s 6 months, say each month has 4 weeks, 4×5 = 20. 20 x6 = 120 sketches. That’s pretty good going. I better sharpen those pencils and fill that ink pot! Challenge excepted.
