This blog is an insight into my design process and interests.

Allowing exploration of anything that may aid my journey into becoming a landscape architect.

Piet Oudolf

Piet Oudolf’s planting is “a promise to the future”.  Celebrating birth, life and death across the universe, his planting creates a relatable subconscious connection. There is drama among peace and spontaneous flow; it is “Hygge”.

As the environment changes and the seasons glide, this garden never dies.
There is a celebration of change through textures, shapes, forms, sounds, and colours throughout the season.

This garden and Oudolfs’ style are quite the epitome of biophilia in planting design, enhancing our innate affinity with the natural world. Oudolf looks at beauty in different ways.

A plant is not just beautiful when in full bloom; its seed heads may be more so, and its movement in the wind maybe more so, and it has a function throughout its life, the seasons and beyond. Like a multiple piece of a puzzle or part of an orchestra, there are many aspects to the whole, all joyously linked together to make a whole.
