You can be observing the most detailed delicate cornicing and stonework noticing its fragility but step back and be in the grand hall of cathedral with its immense pillars gliding into the skies above the crossing of the arches diving down again, the pews stacking back and back like trains stacked up waiting to leave look down the nave to the apse with the vast space between.


Although it initially seems to be an oxymoron, when creating a space, it affects the senses and ignites emotions, allowing one to not only see the space and feel it. Applying this well when designing spaces will, I think, evoke a better response and outcome for the overall design. I will explore this further to see how I can incorporate this idea into my future designs.
