I realised quite early on how significant having trace would be to making this process easier.

Somewhere over the rainbow, there is the promise of luck, equality and, ultimately, hope. The Rainbow is the universal statement for the possibility of better times; a symbol for many of how all will be ok now, that the dark times have passed, that people will be accepted and recognised. I have followed the colours of the rainbow, planting in swathes of raindrops and exploring the concept of the refraction of light through water droplets. Arching through is an architectural interpretation of the White Cliffs of Dover, offering juxtaposition and symbolism for challenging climbs or struggles. At mirroring corners will be the ever-elusive lucky pot of gold, with gold nuggets glistening under the water’s features surface. I have Muhlenbergia White Cloud sweeping across to symbolise the clouds parting, revealing the rainbows’ wonder. I have incorporated plants of coloured foliage to ensure the colour palette is conveyed throughout the year, along with full sun & partial shade-loving plant choices with a long flowering season and can cope with lower rainfall. I trust this border is a statement of celebration for good yet to come.

This was a fun weekend experiment, as I don’t have enough to do with my time already. Although I felt the concept was solid, I am not sure the layout works now I have drawn up the visualisation. Yes, the planting was in swathes and of different colours; I just feel it is too blocky. Maybe if I had graded it a bit better, it may have flowed more smoothly from one colour to another. I also feel I have tried to cram too much in… which is a common trait of mine. I also forgot to put the flying bluebirds in…
I get stuck on the oddest things and then lose track… this is obviously the ADHD doing its thing, and it’s most frustrating. I am happy I attempted this, but I need to put some systems in place to ensure I have covered everything and not rushed or glazed over something because my mind has turned off. I will do it again, but make sure I do not rush it at the end to make sure I have everything and get second opinions. but for 2 days of work, I think it’s a damn good attempt!
Now where’s the pot of gold gone?
