I keep saying I need to learn more plants, and now I am working in practice; although one can get by with basic knowledge, projects move faster and are more creative if time is not spent trawling through a Roy Lancaster book or using a set palette.

I will pick 12 plants a week, ideally for a landscape setting over a garden, and aim to remember their names (common & botanical), aspect and soil, and height/width.

…And if I’m feeling extra adventurous I’ll do a few sketches too!
