This blog is an insight into my design process and interests.

Allowing exploration of anything that may aid my journey into becoming a landscape architect.

Chaumont Development

After some deliberation, the large sculptural kraken didn’t seem feasible in the space and may take a lot of the focus away from the planting despite it being covered or laden with different varieties. In the brief, the plants have to be at the forefront of the garden, with great thought going into the selection and use.

Changing the legs to swathes of planting, with the occasional key sculptural pieces in specific locations, I lay the tentacles on the ground to map out the swathes. These could depict berms, troughs, or high-statement planting.

I have drawn 2 different layouts, one with the head at the top of the garden (pic left) and one with the head at the exit side of the garden.
I can see that some parts of this could include a water element, which could stem from the head and flow down the tentacle.

There is want to include hoops that, when hit, ring with different tones, and places to sit and climb over.

Also, I need to add a path… I didn’t want to design a path with the objects around it, so I gave myself carte blanche and work a route around interesting elements after.
