We have been tasked to complete a phase 1 habitat survey for a small site in Cheltenham.
This has been a refreshing break from the classroom, however trying to identify species of plants/trees/shrubs etc in late autumn has been a challenge.
I found it advantageous to visit this site a few times, focusing on specific tasks, rather than trying to do pose habitats and listing key species.
Due time and light constraints, each time I visited I took a large about of photos to help cross identify or so I can double check as I upload everything into AutoCAD base file.

So far I believe I have names every key specimen and major shrub on site. But as you can see – they layout of my leaders will need further attention due to the sheer volume of species.
I find that each time I visited, some habitats evaluation resulted in different code allocations. This maybe where there is some subjective or seasonal movement skewing the results.
Now I need to pull up a chair, and a large hot drink to input the remaining habitat hatches to my ‘CAD drawing.
