The Map of my mind

When writing my dissertation there are so many parts. With a piece of writing so large, it is hard to keep up with what I’ve written in order to build strong arguments and continuity of the document.

Mindmaps are becoming very important to me, they may be scruffy and illegible to some, but they are invaluable.

My key themes are centred and I build the points that need to be highlighted from that. I do this for every theme.

Once complete I analyse and cross reference them, linking any commonalities and controversy. From this I build further maps to enhance the arguments.

The main ways they have helped:

  • to provide a structured way to capture and organise ideas and information.
  • me to understand concepts by breaking them down into component parts.
  • Aid memory recall.
  • Boost creativity.
  • Increase productivity.
  • Improve problem-solving ability.
